01 MENUS

As a mystery suspense game, the usage of visual and color becomes important. To help amplify the emotions and feels HOTLINE is looking to draw out of the player, the menus use a limited amount of colors, keeping to only warm colors, while the background and rest of the letters are kept to black and white.

With a minimalistic design takes inspiration from the lack of information that is a key part of mystery games, helping to build upon the suspense and unease of the player.

02 PHONE

A big part of the gameplay in HOTLINE involves the usage of the phone. There are two functions of the phone:

      1. Allows players keep tracks of the key evidence and                             information they collect while they explore the mansion.

      2. Serves as a timer for the player via the battery

03 IN-GAME

Besides the phone, there is minimal user interfaces for the user to interact with. Besides the interaction indictor (on the right), that directs the player over to interactable objects, the player will have to explore the mansion looking for the next piece of evidence that the compass points them towards.
